Corbusier Chair LC2

design by Le Corbusier for the 1929 Salon d'Automne. Le Corbusier's background was in architecture and so it must have seemed a natural step to position the chair's frame on the outside and utilise it as part of the design's aesthetic. The result is a Bauhaus classic, instantly recognisable and appreciated now as it was then.

The Swiss were so proud of Corbusier and more specifically this design that they used an image of it to adorn their postage stamps.
